History by the Book meets to discuss historical fiction and non-fiction books. We explore the deeper stories behind historical events and periods in the past.

This month we will read: Run Me to Earth By Paul Yoon

In 1960s Laos, three orphans—Alisak, Prany, and Noi—struggle to survive in a landscape ravaged by war. Taking shelter in a ruined hospital, they meet Vang, a dedicated doctor who enlists them as motorcycle couriers, navigating fields of unexploded bombs to deliver supplies and rescue civilians. When Vang secures their evacuation on the last helicopters leaving the country, their lives are irrevocably altered, setting them on separate, perilous paths across the world.

Books will be ready for pick-up on Thursday, January 16th.

* To cancel your reservation, contact the library by phone or email (programs@clearviewlibrary.org) 24 hours in advance. Failure to return your book at the end of the month may result in a $10 fine for paperbacks or $15 for hardbacks.

* All attendees must be 18+. Registration is required to receive a copy of the title. Books not picked up after 7 days of the pick up notification date will result in a cancellation of registration to accommodate waitlists.
