Dogs + Reading = Magic

PAWS for Reading is a unique and fun reading program that allows children of all ages to develop and improve their literacy skills. Children can read aloud a book or tell a story to a registered and trained therapy dog. Caregivers are also welcome to read aloud as their child and the dog listen.

Research shows that therapy dogs can help reduce anxiety as well as improve focus and attention span. Therapy dogs serve as a calm presence and allow children to improve literacy, comprehension and communicate with a non-judgmental listener.

Morning and afternoon sessions are available throughout the week. After each session, our readers are given a small prize such as a bookmark, sticker, bubbles or a book. Sign up HERE for as many slots as you would like, up to a month in advance!
