Fame is nice, but what about infamy? Edgy Pages is a club for exploring books that are the stuff of controversy and scandal, or inherently provocative.

Anita de Monte Laughs Last by Xochitl Gonzalez follows Raquel, an art history student at College Hill, as she becomes captivated by the forgotten life of artist Anita de Monte, whose tragic death in 1985 once stunned New York City. Through shifting perspectives and timelines, this witty and compelling novel delves into themes of power, love, and the fight for recognition in the elite world of art, questioning who will be remembered and who will be left behind.

Books will be ready for pick-up on Tuesday, June 24, 2025

* To cancel your reservation, contact the library by phone or email (programs@clearviewlibrary.org) 24 hours in advance. Failure to return your book at the end of the month may result in a $10 fine for paperbacks or $15 for hardbacks.

* All attendees must be 18+. Registration is required to receive a copy of the title. Books not picked up after 7 days of the pick up notification date will result in a cancellation of registration to accommodate waitlists.
