History by the Book meets to discuss historical fiction and non-fiction books. We explore the deeper stories behind historical events and periods in the past.

Discover the life beyond the headlines in Life in a Cold Climate by Laura Thompson, an insightful biography of writer Nancy Mitford. Capturing her wit, contradictions, and resilience while drawing on Mitford’s letters, novels, and personal connections, Thompson paints a vivid portrait of a woman who found literary success and joy amid family scandal, a failed marriage, and unrequited love.

Books will be ready for pick-up on Thursday, August 21, 2025.

* To cancel your reservation, contact the library by phone or email (programs@clearviewlibrary.org) 24 hours in advance. Failure to return your book at the end of the month may result in a $10 fine for paperbacks or $15 for hardbacks.

* All attendees must be 18+. Registration is required to receive a copy of the title.

*Books not picked up after 7 days of the pick up notification date will result in a cancellation of registration to accommodate waitlists.
