Fame is nice, but what about infamy? Edgy Pages is a club for exploring books that are the stuff of controversy and scandal, or inherently provocative.
George Orwell’s Nineteen Eighty-Four introduced powerful terms like “Big Brother,” “Thought Police,” and “Orwellian” into our cultural vocabulary. First published in 1949, this landmark dystopian novel imagines a future where truth is manipulated, facts are rewritten, and constant surveillance controls society.
This year’s Banned Books Week is taking place October 5–11 and brings together the entire book community in shared support of the freedom to read. Celebrate your freedom to read by revisiting an oft challenged novel that continues to challenge and illuminate the world around us.
Registration is required to receive a book. All attendees must be 18+. Already read this book? Skip registration and join us for the discussion!
Books will be ready for pick-up beginning Tuesday, September 23rd. Books not picked up within 7 days of the pick-up notification email will result in a cancellation of registration to accommodate waitlists.
To cancel your registration, please email programs@clearviewlibrary.org or call the library (970-686-5603) at least 24 hours before the book club date. Books must be returned on or before the book club date.
