Join us in person or online for Not Your Boring Book Club every Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. from July 5 through August 2, 2022.
Geared for ages 9-12, we’ll be reading Magic Marks the Spot (The Very Honorable League of Pirates series #1) by Caroline Carlson. You can find a parent review of the book at commonsensemedia.org.
Not Your Boring Book Club is a 5-week book club that fosters the love of books and reading and provides a lively environment for 9 to 12 year-olds to gather, chat, create, and learn together.
Hilary Westfield has always dreamed of being a pirate. There's only one problem: The Very Nearly Honorable League of Pirates refuses to let any girl join their ranks of scourges and scallywags. To escape from a life of petticoats and politeness, Hilary answers a curious advertisement for a pirate crew and suddenly finds herself swept up in a seafaring adventure that may or may not involve a map without an X, a magical treasure that likely doesn't exist, a rogue governess who insists on propriety, a crew of misfit scallywags, and the most treacherous - and unexpected - villain on the High Seas.
Materials for this online program will be available for pickup beginning June 28. As this is a hybrid program, if you choose to participate online from home, your kit will include the necessary supplies for activities and crafts that will take place during the program. You may pick up your kit or book at the library, or call ahead to arrange Library Takeout. If you participate in person, you can come and pick up your book if you would like to get a head start beginning June 28. Please bring your book to every meeting.
Please note that this program is registration-based only and each child needs to be registered separately. Once you have registered for the program, we will send you a link to join the book club via Zoom, if that is your preference, every Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. from July 5 through August 2. If you don't join via Zoom, we look forward to seeing you in person at the library. All participants in the club will have opportunities for sharing and interacting whether remote or in person!
Photographs taken during virtual library events may be used for Clearview Library District publicity. If you would like to opt out, please turn your camera off when a picture is taken.
