Join us online for Imagine Stories Together every Wednesday at 6 p.m. from September 7 - October 5.
Geared for families with children of all ages, we'll be reading the graphic novel El Deafo by CeCe Bell.
In this funny, poignant graphic novel memoir, author/illustrator Cece Bell chronicles her hearing loss at a young age and her subsequent experiences with the Phonic Ear, a very powerful - and very awkward - hearing aid. The Phonic Ear gives Cece the ability to hear - sometimes things she shouldn't - but also isolates her from her classmates. She really just wants to fit in and find a true friend, someone who appreciates her as she is. After some trouble, she is finally able to harness the power of the Phonic Ear and become "El Deafo, Listener for All." And more importantly, declare a place for herself in the world and find the friend she's longed for.
Kits for this online program will be available at the Windsor-Severance Library beginning Wednesday, August 31, and will include a free copy of the book, as well as supplies for activities and crafts that will take place during the program. You may pick up your kit at the library, or call ahead to arrange Library Takeout. Please email Christy or Trisha if you would like to pick up your kit on the bookmobile.
Please note that this program is registration-based only; please register your family as one total registration, rather than registering each individual in your family. If you have more than one child that will be participating in the book club, please indicate the number so that we can include enough craft supplies for each child. Once you have registered for the program, we will send you a link to join the book club via Zoom prior to every Wednesday at 6 p.m., September 7 - October 5.
Photographs taken during virtual library events may be used for Clearview Library District publicity. If you would like to opt out, please turn your camera off when a picture is taken.
For questions, please contact Trisha or Christy: email@example.com and firstname.lastname@example.org.
