Join us in person or online for Not Your Boring Book Club every Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. from November 8 through December 13, 2022 (with the exception of November 22).
This is no ordinary book club! We will read and talk about the book but we will also participate in an escape room game, eat snacks, create our own Lego ship, and more! Not Your Boring Book Club is a 5-week book club that fosters the love of books and reading and provides a lively environment for 9 to 12 year-olds to gather, chat, create, and learn together.
For this session we will be reading Bob by Wendy Mass and Rebecca Stead. You can find a parent review of the book at commonsensemedia.org.
It’s been five years since Livy and her family have visited Livy’s grandmother in Australia. Now that she’s back, Livy has the feeling she’s forgotten something really, really important about Gran’s house. It turns out she’s right. Bob, a short, greenish creature dressed in a chicken suit, didn’t forget Livy, or her promise. Now it’s time to keep that promise. Clue by clue, Livy and Bob will unravel the mystery of where Bob comes from, and discover the kind of magic that lasts forever.
Materials for this online program will be available for pickup beginning November 1. As this is a hybrid program, if you choose to participate online from home, your kit will include the necessary supplies for activities and crafts that will take place during the program. You may pick up your kit or book at the library, or call ahead to arrange Library Takeout. If you participate in person, you can come and pick up your book if you would like to get a head start beginning November 1. Please bring your book to every meeting.
Please note that this program is registration-based only and each child needs to be registered separately. If you choose to join remotely, we will send you a link to join the book club via Zoom every Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. from November 8 through December 13 (with the exception of November 22). If you choose to join us in person, we look forward to seeing you in person at the library at 4:30. Please know that your decision to be remote or in person is for all five weeks. Please choose only one. All participants in the club will have opportunities for sharing and interacting whether remote or in person, but we recommend in person for the best experience.
Photographs taken during virtual library events may be used for Clearview Library District publicity. If you would like to opt out, please turn your camera off when a picture is taken.
