Art Like an Illustrator gives kids a chance to create all types of art inspired by children’s illustrators! Each session we will focus on a different illustrator by reading a book (or two) that they illustrated and then we'll dive into an art project in their style.
Alma Woodsey Thomas was a historic American artist whose paintings are celebrated for their unique style and use of color. A teacher for most of her life, Alma’s prowess as an artist wasn’t recognized until later in life when her work broke societal boundaries of her time and even wound up hanging in the White House! Ms. Thomas’ work is easily identified due to her signature style, abstract art, which we will be recreating in today’s session of Art Like an Illustrator when we paint on canvas! Join us this week wearing clothes/shoes that can get messy!
