Welcome to our inclusive book club for teens!
The focus of this informal book club is to engage in meaningful conversation with your friends while talking about books. In this book club, we’ll focus on choosing books together that feature characters who feel marginalized and like they don’t fit in. We may read about characters who don’t fit in because of gender identity, physical ability, race, sexual orientation, or body image. Maybe they don’t fit in because of a learning disability, their nation of origin, or because of their family’s economic status.
Our book club is a safe space to hang out with your old friends and meet new ones. Help us select the book and we’ll offer an activity while we share our thoughts on the book and the issues it brings up. Activities may include making friendship bracelets, origami, or creating bookmarks. Join us for this inclusive new book club where you may just see yourself on the page of a book.
Our first session this month will be on Wednesday, October 11. We’ll meet at the Windsor Art & Heritage Center (116 5th Street, Windsor) for a Ghost Tour of Windsor led by a Town of Windsor Museums educator. After the Ghost Tour, we’ll provide this month’s book that’s as spooky as the stories we’ll hear.
Our second session this month will be held on Wednesday, October 25. Meet us at the Windsor-Severance Library on Wednesday, October 25.
Registration required.
