Getting Crafty offers kids the opportunity to tap into their creativity through critical thinking, imagination, and artistic expression!
Papel picado, traditional Mexican folk art, is made by cutting beautiful designs into colorful tissue paper that is then strung together and hung inside homes and throughout the streets. Papel picado is displayed for all kinds of different celebrations including weddings, Christmas, and more. In this session of Getting Crafty, we will be creating papel picado of our own in preparation of Día de Muertos, a traditional Mexican holiday that unites the living and the dead by honoring loved ones who have died and inviting them to celebrate with us in the land of the living!
For ages 6-12. Registration is required. Please register each child separately that will be attending the program using the child's first and last name. This week we’ll meet in the Pikes Peak room in the Windsor-Severance Library.
