Join us to learn about the bears at Katmai National Park and Preserve as they prepare for hibernation.
Bears might double their body weight to prepare for their winter sleep, which amounts to about a 1,000 - 2,000 pound weight gain! Fat Bear Week is a celebration of this incredible feat! Every year, Katmai National Park and Preserve runs the Fat Bear week competition to see which bears put on the most weight for hibernation. It's a fun March Madness style competition, complete with bear brackets! At this program, we will watch the bear cams, pick our favorite bears, make bear crafts and eat bear snacks!
Please note that this program is registration-based only; please register your family as one total registration, rather than registering each individual in your family. If you have more than one child that will be participating, please indicate the number so that we can plan accordingly.
