Welcome to our inclusive book club for teens!
The focus of this informal book club is to engage in meaningful conversation with your friends while talking about books. In this book club, we’ll focus on choosing books together that feature characters who feel marginalized and like they don’t fit in. We may read about characters who don’t fit in because of gender identity, physical ability, race, sexual orientation, or body image. Maybe they don’t fit in because of a learning disability, their nation of origin, or because of their family’s economic status.
Our book club is a safe space to hang out with your old friends and meet new ones. Help us select the book and we’ll offer an activity while we share our thoughts on the book and the issues it brings up. Activities may include making friendship bracelets, origami, or creating bookmarks. Join us for this inclusive new book club where you may just see yourself on the page of a book.
We’ll meet on January 3 and January 17 in the Teen Tower in the Windsor-Severance Library. We’ll provide the book for you at our first meeting on January 3.
This program is exclusively for teens 12-18. Registration is required.
