Join us to celebrate bears and hibernation!
Bears might double their body weight to prepare for their winter sleep, which amounts to a couple hundred pound weight gain. The Katmai National Park and Preserve in Alaska celebrates this phenomena each year with Fat Bear Week, a fun competition to see which of the bears in the park put on the most weight for hibernation. It's a fun March Madness style competition, complete with bear brackets! For this program, we will watch the bear cams, pick our favorite bears, make bear crafts, and eat bear snacks!
No registration required. Maximum attendance is contingent on program capacity.
