This month we are reading James: A Novel by Percival Everett. This National Book Award winner explores the story of Huckleberry Finn from the perspective of Jim. Jim, who is enslaved, learns that he is about to be sold and separated from his wife and daughter. He decides to run away and hide on Jackson Island until he can formulate a plan. To do this he must raft down the Mississippi River thus beginning his adventure with Huck Finn.
